Driver
Khoa’s story is one that could easily belong to many young people and that is why he leaves a lasting impact on school students. At just 19 years of age the car he was driving hit a pole and a parked car at high speed. He was unlicensed and uninsured.
Khoa’s family thought he was buying parts for his car. A trip that should have taken 10 minutes. The first thing they knew about the accident was a phone call 2 hours later saying he was in Liverpool Hospital and they needed to be there to sign forms for an operation. Khoa’s admission to hospital was due to a traumatic brain injury and it would be over a year before he would return home.
Khoa delivers his presentation in a quiet, gentle and engaging manner with an underlying urgency to reach as many people as possible with his message. “Please drive carefully. Don’t speed. Follow the RTA rules. And always listen to older people because they have past experience.”
