DID YOU KNOW THAT Black Muscat Park is situated next to Chipping Norton Lake, a 49-hectare artificial lake which is part of the Georges River system.
Originally the land was used as farmland. In the 1950s it was mined. This mining caused irreversible environmental destruction so in the late 1970s it was decided to flood the mine, leaving a large lake. Vegetation was planted around the lake to make a wildlife reserve.
