The first thing people notice about Michael is his sense of humour. He loves to tell jokes. This use of humour provides Michael’s presentation with a light hearted balance to the seriousness of the harsh reality of living life with an acquired brain injury.
Michael had just landed his dream job when a fall from a cliff at Dover Heights whilst on a fishing trip changed his life forever. Landing on his head he was airlifted to hospital where he was put on life support and underwent 3 operations to relieve pressure on his brain. This left Michael with a brain injury and blindness. It would be 2 years before he regained some vision. Due to the severity of Michael’s brain injury, he was unable to return to his previous life and now resides in a nursing home with 24 hour support. But Michael remains optimistic with his message “Don’t take life for granted and always look at the positive.”
